A lot of votes were cast and we thank you fo your keen participation. The results are in! Here are the top 3 male characters that gave fans the 2nd lead syndrome the most according to Kpopmap readers and based on the data retrieved on the 5th of December 2022.
1. Baek InHo - “Cheese In The Trap”
Played by the talented Seo KangJoon, Baek InHo was a character that many had a deep affection for because of how well he matched the energy of Hong Seol (played by Kim GoEun). He was a source of comfort, warmth, laughter, and security for her. And even though Hong Seol fell in love with Jung Yoo (played by Park HaeJin), many viewers were noticeably disappointed as right from their first meeting, Baek InHo had displayed the charms that seemingly made him the perfect match or end game for her. With 301 votes, he ranks 1st on this poll.
2. Han SeoJun - “True Beauty”
A recent character that really made the trope of the 2nd lead syndrome more popular, even though we all expected that Lim JuKyung (played by Mun KaYoung) would eventually end up with Han SuHo (played by ASTRO’s Cha EunWoo), many couldn’t help but have a slight hope that she would fall in love with Han SeoJun (played by Hwang InYoup) as well. His charming aura combined with his thoughtful and quirky nature made many viewers feel he would make a better pairing with Lim JuKyung. With 271 votes, he ranks 2nd on this poll.
3. Park JungWoo - “Temperature Of Love”
The drama “Temperature Of Love” gave us one of the best love triangles in K-Drama history as both leads, despite their contrasting personality and status, unequivocally possessed various traits that made them a perfect match with the female lead. With a chemistry so strong and undeniable between all three characters (at some point, many were shipping the male leads as well), it could have been a bit difficult for viewers to pick the “better man” in the series. However, the choice was up to Lee HyunSoo (played by Seo HyunJin), who eventually had a happy ending with On JungSeon (played by Yang SeJong). This made Park JungWoo (played by Kim JaeUck) the ultimate 2nd lead syndrome as with 157 votes, he ranks 3rd on this poll. Find out all the rankings below.
