There are a number of romantic K-Dramas airing at the moment such as “The King’s Affection”, “Secret Royal Inspector Joy”, “Now, We Are Breaking Up” and more. This week, our favourite romantic pick is a scene from “Happiness”, starring Park HyungSik and Han HyoJoo. Spoiler Alert! On episode 3 of “Happiness”, information about the “Mad Person Disease” is made public for the first time, with an infected patient arising in the newly-built high-rise complex where Jung YiHyun (Park HyungSik) and Yoon SaeBom (Han HyoJoo) have recently moved into. We find even more evidence that the disease is caused by a certain drug called “Next” that also happened to have been distributed in the gym for the homeowners of the building. From what we know so far, the drug’s effect builds up with continued consumption and finally culminates into the mad person disease, turning perfectly healthy humans into vampire-zombie hybrids. While there is an undercurrent of a “high school sweethearts” love story between YiHyun and SaeBom, there’s nothing romantic about this situation. With the mad person disease wreaking havoc in the nation, Lieutenant Colonel Han TaeSeok (Jo WooJin) makes a call to cordon the apartment complex off, enforcing a complete lockdown. At this point, Yoon SaeBom doesn’t know where YiHyun is and vice versa. While YiHyun narrows down on the murder suspect behind the death of Park MinJi (Baek JooHee), the first infected patient in the complex, deducing it to be her husband Oh JooHyeong (Baek HyunJin) who had effectively killed her before the infection took over, Yoon SaeBom was watching the complex being sealed off. Assuming the worst, SaeBom makes a call to let YiHyun know that he won’t be able to enter the building and as such, they won’t see each other again. She makes a vow to protect her apartment and a confused YiHyun walks out of the elevator with Oh JooHyeong in tow. SaeBom is pleasantly surprised to see YiHyun in the same building and even more relieved that she won’t be alone. She runs to YiHyun and gives him a hug, charged with emotion and sincerity. She has nothing but love in her eyes and strength in her heart as he holds her, even in the middle of such chaos. You can watch the scene below!
What makes this moment so special and romantic is that even in such a dire situation, just the company of someone you can rely on is precious. The world might be ending but at least you have them by your side. What did you think of the latest episodes of “Happiness”? Share your thoughts with Kpopmap in the comments section down below!
