One such piece of choreography is the canon dance. A canon dance is when one dancer introduces a certain move and the next dancers duplicate that move one after the other. It is very similar to a domino effect. Some dancers call it a ripple effect which by definition involves different dancers performing a move at different times to add visual excitement to a routine. These dances add a visually creative edge to a stage and add to the concept. Let’s take a look at some K-Pop songs that feature or make use of canon or ripple effects in their choreography. 1. MONSTA X - ‘Beautiful’

  MONSTA X has one of the most iconic canon dance moves in K-Pop. The part in ‘Beautiful’ where they throw their jackets to the ground is definitely one of the standout points in the choreography that will live in your memory. MONSTA X always adds these kinds of masterful details to their choreography.

 

2. Stray Kids - ‘Domino’

  There are quite a few canon effects in this song which is true to the title. This choreography is clever because it creates an artistic effect that gives the performance an addictive quality and makes you want to watch it over and over again.

 

3. DREAMCATCHER - ‘MAISON’

  DREAMCATCHER’s ‘MAISON’ has some really eye-catching choreography. One of the most memorable parts of the dance is the canon where the members each point their guns as they get on one knee. It mimics the intensity of the song and their impactful performance.

 

4. LOONA - ‘Butterfly’

  There are also a number of canons in LOONA’s ‘Butterfly’. The group especially uses them to create shape in their choreography and to embody the butterfly, amplifying the song’s impact. It is another great example of beautiful storytelling.

 

5. BTS - ‘Black Swan’

  This is another perfect example of multiple canons. ‘Black Swan’ by BTS is one of the most captivating performances when it comes to visual storytelling. The choreography feels like art and the canon dances only emphasize the attention to detail.

 

6. A.C.E - ‘Callin’’

  A.C.E makes use of canon and ripple effects in different parts throughout their choreography for ‘Callin’’. It is one of the most striking examples to date as the performance power matched with their precise movements creates an impactful dance image.
