This is especially true for male idols as the beauty standard these days is leaning more towards masculine styles. Many males idols have graced the cover of “Men’s Health Korea” to show off their great physiques, but others have simply worked hard and shown off the results to their fans. Here are some idols, male and female, who have had amazing bodily transformations since their debut.  

1. WonHo

When people think of a muscular idol, many people’s first thought is WonHo. He actually had a different life before his debut than most other idols did. WonHo was an “ulzzang”, the closest translation would be “best face”, before debut. He was even on a show that was called “Ulzzang Shidae”. There are many pictures of him pre-debut circling around the internet, and from these pictures, it is easy to see that WonHo has changed significantly over time. He went from ulzzang, to muscle man in the span of a decade and some change, which makes him a great example of how hard work can pay off! Great work WonHo everyone is proud of your transformation!  

2. PENTAGON’s HongSeok

When PENTAGON debuted with ‘Gorilla’ in 2016 HongSeok had more of a flower boy vibe to him. He was like someone you see in a coffee shop one time while passing by and go back every day in the hopes of seeing again. These days, however, HongSeok is more well-known as an athletic idol. He was even featured in “Men’s Health” just like many other fit male idols. His image has definitely evolved into a more mature and rugged look. Which concept do you think suits him better?  

3. ASTRO’s MoonBin

At their debut, MoonBin had a very fresh and cute “boy-next-door” feeling that caused everyone to fall in love with him. As his career progressed, however, he got more and more manly and built up a more mature vibe. Though his face has not changed very much since his debut, MoonBin’s whole aura now radiates a seductive air that has captured the hearts of all AROHA’s multiple times over.  

4. MAMAMOO’s Solar

Every since their debut, Solar has had a strong presence and voice. She has always been very well-known for her powerful vocal abilities, and her lovable personality. Although, after a while she started to get more attention for a different reason. In recent years Solar has started to upload more dance covers despite being mainly a vocalist.

One thing that is absolutely noticeable in these videos is how much solar has matured quite a bit since her debut. Her toned body and confidence really shine through in these dance videos! She was also able to secure some fitness photoshoots like working with “Men’s Health” as a muscular model! Now no matter what she’s wearing or what she’s doing, Solar radiates a confident glow that attracts everyone towards her! Solar also has a great solo career outside of being in MAMAMOO. 5. BTS’s JungKook

BTS debuted in 2013 when JungKook was only 16 years old, so it is a given that he would have changed a lot from that time. Even though BTS debuted with a hip-hop and hardcore style, JungKook still exuded the energy and youthfulness of a teenager. Then, as the years progressed, so did JungKook’s image. He went from a cute and energetic teen to a lively, masculine, and confident young adult! He even got multiple tattoos and piercing that really enhance his stylish and chic vibe. 6. SoMi

SoMi debuted at a very young age, which was the biggest factor in her bodily transformation. SoMi started out as a cute, young, fresh, and lovable girl when she appeared on the show “Produce 101”. After the disbandment of I.O.I, SoMi took on a new style and changed her look completely! She transformed from a cute girl into a Barbie doll! Her blond hair and perfect proportions really add to her new mature style and the change in direction her music took as she went solo. As she continued to grow, she slowly turned into a statuesque woman with a fit and healthy body. SoMi has only been an idol for a few years and she is still very young. Keep an eye out for her developing style and musical abilities in the future!   Most idols go through a period of transition from debut to their present styles. Some of them have drastic changes, while others are more subtle.
